Migration is a crucial event in the lives of thousands of bird species; it is necessary for their own survival.

Not all birds migrate, however.
Some species have adapted well to their environment. This has allowed them to become sedentary and not have to travel all year.

Both migratory and sedentary birds are looking for shelter for the winter and a cozy, safe place to build their nest.
So do we. Do they consider their nest their home? What is home?
The nest is where we take care of ourselves, we take our time and recharge ourselves.

This birdhouse plays on the idea of the nest as a place to rest, even the birds in their hectic everyday lives are also looking for a bit of calm, and what could be better than finding a little house made of ash and iroko, ready to host their nest?
The architecture of the house features a unique entrance, which makes it inviting to enter. The rungs also allow you to enjoy the 'front' of the house, the porch or the terrace, where you can also chat with visiting friends.

Partly for fun and partly reflecting on the theme of home, we made a birdhouse by experimenting with shapes, techniques, colors and balances.
